Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our practice — appointments, insurance, Dr. Varela's expertise, and the conditions we treat.

Appointments

How do I schedule an appointment?+

You can book online through our website or call us at (786) 773-2737. Fill out the booking form and our team will contact you to confirm your visit.

What are your office hours?+

We are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

What should I bring to my first visit?+

A valid government-issued photo ID, your current insurance card, any previous neurological evaluations, lab results or imaging studies (MRI, CT), a complete list of current medications and dosages, and notes about your symptoms — when they started and what makes them better or worse. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to complete new-patient paperwork.

What happens during my first appointment?+

Every appointment is a collaboration between doctor and patient. We take the time to hear your concerns and evaluate all symptoms as clues to your diagnosis, then develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your unique needs.

Insurance & Pricing

Do you accept insurance?+

Yes — we accept most major insurance plans. As an out-of-network provider, your visits are covered under your plan's Out-of-Network benefits. We handle the paperwork: after each visit, we provide you with a completed HCFA form to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Does going out-of-network cost more?+

It doesn't cost a patient more to come here — it's likely to cost them less. Most patients never meet their annual deductible, which means they would have paid the same amount regardless.

How does out-of-network reimbursement work?+

After your visit, we provide you with a completed HCFA form. You submit this form to your insurance company, which then reimburses you according to your plan's out-of-network benefits.

Do you accept self-pay patients?+

Yes, we welcome self-pay patients. We believe that access to quality neurological care should never be delayed by insurance barriers. Our self-pay fees are fair and transparent, and we work with you to schedule your appointment at the time you need it — not weeks or months from now.
